What to expect: A story about two very different men, who at first glance are totally wrong for each other, finding out that sometimes you find happiness in unlikely places.
The Book: Brilliant graphic designer Ravi Tandel is ahead of the game—he’s just been asked to present a top secret project at a huge conference in Seattle. All systems are go…until he learns his buttoned-up office nemesis is coming along for the ride.
Tristan Jones isn’t really the gamer type, but he knows the back end of the video game business inside out. Together, he and Ravi will give an awesome presentation. If they survive the cross-country trip first.
Tossed together in close quarters, Ravi’s shocked to see Tristan’s sexy, softer side emerge from such a conservative shell. He’s less shocked to learn his handsome colleague’s prominent family would never support an out-and-proud son. But Ravi didn’t struggle through his own coming out to hide who he is now. To be together, Tristan will have to push past his fear and ultimately decide: Does he want a future with Ravi? Or is it game over before they’ve even begun?
Review: I really enjoyed this road trip story. Rafi and Tristan work for a gaming company and are on their way to a convention to showcase their agency’s newest game. The two men are complete opposites and do not really care for each other. They’re only doing the trip together because work has given them no choice. As they head across the state and the mishaps pile up, they come to the realization that their differences are the things that make them each unique and they actually become the things that attract them to each other.
I adored these two characters. They were really well written and I found them totally engaging. I liked how their romance slowly unfolded and the fact that there was no insta-love. The story felt realistic and I could see these two ending up together in real life. There was a bit of everything in story. Some serious moments, some funny ones, some sweet one and some sexy ones.
The narration was good and I enjoy his voice a lot. I find that he does consistently well done voices.
I’ve read almost all of this author’s other books and this one turned out to be one of my favorites. I thought it was really good. This is the second in a series but is fine to be read as a standalone. I would definitely recommend this one.
What you might not like: The narrator has done a lot of work in the m/m romance genre and he’s been the voice of some pretty famous characters. It was hard at first to not picture some of them as he spoke.
What you’ll love: This story has some fun elements; enemies to lovers, gamer geeks and a road trip. Who can resist all those?
