Author Chat with Binge on Books, July Edition: Jordan Castillo Price

If you haven’t noticed, this past May and June were mighty quiet in terms of podcasts…but now, they are back! And who better to help us kick start a new season of Author Chat than one of the most versatile, charismatic, wildly popular authors in the LGBTQ community: Jordan Castillo Price.

She’s known for writing creepy settings, haunting characters, and fantastically fleshed out scenarios. I fell in love with her thanks to her series: Mnevermind, Channeling Morpheus, and Psycop but maybe for YOU it was her standalones: The Starving Years, Magic Mansion, and Charmed and Dangerous. No matter how you found her and which book you like best, we can all agree – she is a force to be reckoned with in the publishing world and this is one Author Chat you will not want to bypass! Plus she includes a short freebie from her Psycop series (Thaw, read by Gomez Pugh)!

So here she is…Jordan Castillo Price in July’s Author Chat with Binge on Books!

Author Chat with Binge on Books, February Edition: Roan Parrish

BoB Podcast Graphic for RP on 2-24It’s that time again. Time for a little Author Chat with Binge on Books! This month’s featured author is the fabulously talented Roan Parrish.

If you don’t know Roan, well, we need to rectify that stat. Last year she broke onto the romance scene with an electrifying debut novel: In the Middle of Somewhere was everything a first book should be. It was beautifully written, achingly nuanced, completely lacking in melodramatic angst, and far sexier than I would ever have expected from a tatted up professor with a chip on his shoulder and a hunky carpenter with secrets to hide. It was funny and irreverent and so very smart…much like Roan Parrish herself. The next novel in the series, Out of Nowhere, will release on 2/29 and let me tell you, it is 100% worth the seemingly endless wait (okay it was only a 6 month wait but still. We are all dying to know what happens next).

I sat down with Roan for this February edition of Author Chat to discuss upcoming projects (there are so so many! YES!), favorite books and writer idols, her love of all things food, her upcoming release and so much more. Plus at the very end, we get a deliciously extended tease featuring a sexy scene from Out of Nowhere and a hint of what’s in store for Colin and Rafe.

Roan Parrish

Roan Parrish is currently wandering between Philadelphia and New Orleans. When not writing, she can usually be found cutting her friends’ hair, meandering through whatever city she’s in while listening to torch songs and melodic death metal, or cooking overly elaborate meals. She loves bonfires, winter beaches, minor chord harmonies, and self-tattooing. One time she may or may not have baked a six-layer chocolate cake and then thrown it out the window in a fit of pique.

Time to Tease: Author Chat with Roan Parrish

Welcome to…TIME TO TEASE! A Friday post that hopefully will titillate and tempt and ultimately tide you over until the real deal hits the site next week!

“What exactly are you teasing us with, Judith?” you are no doubt asking yourself. Well, let me tell you!BoB Podcast Graphic for Roan Parrish

About two weeks ago, I sat down with author, Roan Parrish, and recorded a podcast that ran the gamut of literature: from House of Leaves to China Mieville, from Donna Tartt to Pig Latin as language of choice among the hip English Professor crowd. If you can imagine it, we discussed it. We talked a lot. A LOT. Most importantly though, we talked Out of Nowhere, Parrish’s upcoming release. It’s the much talked about sequel to her stunning debut, In the Middle of Somewhere, and it will gut you. No joke. Gut. You. But in the best possible way (if there is a best possible way to sob and ugly cry and roll around on the floor devastated that it’s over while riding the subway).

So today’s teaser is a teeny, tiny little outtake from that recording session where both of us reveal a secret of sorts. So…sit back and enjoy a little Roan Parrish in anticipation of her podcast out next week!

Author Chat with Binge on Books, January Edition: C.S. Pacat

Next week, on Feb 2nd, is a date that all of us here at Binge on Books has noted in the calendar, circled in bright red ink, with a warning out to all friends and family: don’t even bother talking to us, expecting us to work/make dinner/interact with you, or anticipate us doing anything other than reading Kings Rising, the highly and hotly anticipated third installment in C.S. Pacat’s groundbreaking Captive Prince series. It’s 7 long years of waiting for some and finally, FINALLY, it will be released.

captive prince trilogyIf you’ve never read Captive Prince, stop everything you’re doing right now and read it. I’m not joking. Read it. Now. Right now. It’s one of the most gorgeous, heart breaking, revolutionary works of genre fiction I’ve read to date. It’s a book that’s stuck with me since I first reviewed it back in 2013 and one that is routinely recommended by me to anyone looking for something extraordinary. It’s one series that will obliterate what you think about political intrigue, romance, and fantasy, overturning stereotypes and engrossing you. It’s the book you’ve been dying to read but didn’t even know it.

In anticipation of the third and final book’s release, I sat down in my latest Author Chat with Binge on Books to discuss all things Captive Prince with C.S. Pacat herself. Cat was lovely enough to submit to a lightning round of silly questions and a rapid fire Q&A about craft, upcoming projects, and Kings Rising itself. She even goes so far as to discuss the question at the forefront of every long time reader’s mind: did Laurent know?

So with that, I give you, the January 2016 edition of Author Chat with Binge on Books, featuring C.S. Pacat!

Author Chat: Best Books of 2015, part 1

Hard to believe but it’s that time of year again. You know the time…it’s that sloooow build up to the end of the year when we reflect on all that we’ve read, poring over kindle lists and pulling out paperbacks in order to figure out our top reads. It’s one of the most heart wrenching, soul searching, totally painful times here at Binge on Books ’cause, well, we read a lot and love a lot and honestly, have a lot of difficulty picking just five books that topped this year’s list.

To make the choosing easier this year, I thought about spicing things up by giving you my favorite books podcast style talking it out and really telling you what I think. But then, with a decisive, “NO!” I decided I needed to spice them up EVEN MORE: that’s right, it won’t be me talking about my favorite reads (which frankly, I do all the time and you probably know them all already).

So along with fellow book reviewer, Onnica from I Love Romantic Fiction, four of your favorite authors will be coming to Binge on Books to give you their TOP PICKS OF 2015!

The Lineup:

Part 1 (out 12/15): Amy Jo Cousins and Nalini Singh

Part 2 (out 12/30): J.R. Gray and Jessica Hawkins

Onnica is the sole reviewer of I Love Romantic Fiction, a site dedicated to…you guessed it, romance! Onni hails from England and if she wasn’t reading and reviewing, she’d probably wither and die – it’s her passion.  She believes there are always more amazing authors out there to discover and she’s always looking for good recommendations, so don’t be shy!

Amy Jo Cousins writes contemporary romance and erotica about smart people finding their own best kind of smexy. She lives in Chicago with her son, where she tweets too much, sometimes runs really far, and waits for the Cubs to win the World Series. Amy Jo is represented by Courtney Miller-Callihan of Greenburger Associates.
