Binge on Books Top Books of 2017: Edwin’s Favorites

Edwin‘s top reads of the year

As designated Chief SFF Nerd at Binge On Books, it feels appropriate for my top 4 reads of the year to also be in the SFF genres. So what follows are the four science fiction and fantasy novels I read and enjoyed the most, in no particular order.  Before I get to that, though, I should mention some books in the contemporary queer romance genre I enjoyed very much this year. Some honorable mentions, if you will: Kim Fielding’s Love is Heartless, Roan Parrish’s Small Change, and Liz Jacobs’ Abroad: part 1 are all wonderful books and well worth your time.  I should also add that there are 2 or 3 other books it was really hard to leave off the list.  2017 has not been a good year, but it has had some damn good books.  Now on to the main event. Book Reveal: Roan Parrish’s next book

If you follow me or this site pretty regularly, there are two things you will know with a great deal of certainty:

1. I adore author Roan Parrish. Why? Girlfriend can write. Whether it’s sexy, nuanced romance, an essay about gender, identity, and pandering, or a paranormal Halloween short, one thing’s for sure: it is all gorgeous and lush and poetic in a way that will just sort of…linger, burrowing inside you and letting you think of nothing else.

2. I’ve been dying to get my hands on some information – any information – about the sequel to In the Middle of Somewhere. Who would the book be about? What would the title be? WOULD WE SEE MORE REX OR DANIEL?!

Well, finally, the loooooong wait is now over and I can tell you all about that next book. So now the BIG reveal! Read More

Romance Review: Angel by Laura Lee…you must buy this book!

Angel by Laura Lee

Format: Paperback ARC/Kindle PDF

Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance

2 years ago, I was at Book Expo America for the first time, generally walking around a big open space in a book daze. People would look at my badge, see “Reviewer”, and thrust books right into my open hands. Free books were everywhere! And I took them ALL! Thank god I did because little did I know that I held in my hands a book that was to become my top M/M read of all time. I’m serious here. This book is the one I urge everyone to read.

I’ll give you fair warning now: Angel isn’t a flashy book; there’s no crazy drama or gorgeous hunks. There’s no fantastic sex, trash talk, or impossible situations. There’s not even a happily ever after. But what there is, is a finely crafted love story which really spoke to me on a deeper level than I could ever describe adequately here. All I can say is you must give this book a chance and hopefully it will touch you as deeply as it did me.
