Here it is in all its glory; what do YOU think?!
Birthday Giveaway #5: Priscilla Glenn
Priscilla, Priscilla: you had me from the moment we met Michael from Back to You! I swear, I’ve never reviewed a romance novel on the blog because, let’s face it, this blog is geared more toward the Y than the A. But I made a BIG EXCEPTION for Back to You because it was so wrought with emotion and so very beautiful that I wanted to share it with all of you; plus, it had some heavy YA crossover bits I could use if anyone questioned it being on the site (bases covered! YES!).
I gotta tell you guys, if you haven’t read her yet, Priscilla is phenomenal. She wrote her first book just to prove to herself that she could and thank god she did cause it’s one of the most poignant stories of love lost and found that I’ve ever read. She has a new book coming out soon called Emancipating Andie that we’re all dying to get our hot little hands on and well, guess what she’s going to be giving you for my birthday???
Priscilla Glenn, author of Back to You, has a new book coming out in March. YES! I’m going to pretend that it’s New Adult (it kinda sounds like it could be, alright?) even though it’s being dubbed Contemporary Romance. Let’s just say “Tomato, Tomahto” and get on with the good stuff!
Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind – and paid the price for it – she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.
Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.
So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love.
Priscilla Glenn lives in New York with her husband and three children. She has been teaching English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels for the past eleven years while moonlighting as a writer, mommy, coach, student, and professional laundry-doer.
If you catch her when she’s feeling sophisticated, she’ll tell you her favorite things are great books and good wine. In the moments in between, she’ll admit her love for anything Ben and Jerry’s, UFC fights, and Robert Pattinson.
And now…the cover!
Tell us what you think!
I asked, she gave. Priscilla Glenn is such a doll that when I joked around, saying, “You know, for your Back to You blog tour, you could just give us an exclusive sneak peek,” she agreed! Just like that! What an awesome writer and person! So here you go…try not to spontaneously combust until the very end.
You guys just blow my mind with all your support! Because of you, we’re now at 400 Facebook likes – crazy cause Ellen and I never thought anyone would read our blog except each other…and maybe our mothers…but now we have actual followers! Lots of them!

So let’s get down to business!
You read Back to You by Priscilla Glenn, right? RIGHT?! If not, stop everything you’re doing and get on this book! I’ll wait. Don’t believe me? Check out our review of the book here and if a 10+ star review doesn’t convince you then, well, you have issues. This book and the author are nothing short of amazing! Back to You is the story of Lauren, a day care teacher still reeling ten years after being left behind by her best friend and first love Michael. When he shows up at the daycare with his daughter in tow, Lauren is shocked to discover she just might still have feelings for him and is forced to choose between this ghost from her past and the perfect man she’s currently dating. I can’t do it justice. All I can say is, read our review, buy the book, and then put your entry in to win 1 of 3 signed copies below!
Now on to the fun stuff! Below you’ll find a hilarious Top Ten with Priscilla and a teaser of the sneak peek to her new book, Emancipating Andie, we’ll be releasing in its entirety January 9th.
Top Ten with Priscilla Glenn
Full disclosure: I totally cheat when it comes to “favorite” surveys. Instead of choosing favorites, I give lists. You’ve been warned.
Favorite movie: Dirty Dancing, A Bronx Tale, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Karate Kid (the original!), My Cousin Vinny, The Princess Bride
Favorite song: Colorblind by Counting Crows, This Year’s Love by David Gray (I taught myself how to play both on the piano!), Hold You In My Arms by Ray LaMontagne, These Are The Days by Van Morrison, Arizona by Kings of Leon, Last Request by Paolo Nutini, Killing Me Softly by The Fugees, Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits
A place I’d love to visit: Italy, Greece (especially Santorini), Hawaii
Item you can’t live without: My cell phone. I know it’s irrational, but if I ever happen to forget it at home, or if it runs out of battery in a place where I can’t charge it, I have a moment of sheer panic. It’s quite ridiculous.
Person you would like to meet: If I were being fantastical, I would say Maya Angelou. If I were being realistic, I would say Katja Millay, author of The Sea of Tranquility. She stepped up and took me under her wing when I first published Back to You, and we’ve been trading emails, texts, and phone calls ever since. We often lament the fact that we can’t just hop in the car and meet up for coffee. Or alcohol, depending on the day ;)
Favorite hobby: If I say reading and writing, is that cheating? It truly does take up most of the free time I have when I’m not teaching or taking care of my family. I love, love, love getting manicures and pedicures. Does that qualify as a hobby? 😉 I also love teaching myself songs on the piano, although it’s been a while since I’ve learned anything new.
Guilty pleasure: Robert Pattinson. I know, I know. My husband never misses an opportunity to tell me I’m not thirteen years old, to which I always respond that I don’t have a crush on him for being Edward. I like that he’s humble and self-deprecating and funny. And also, he’s sex on legs.
Favorite book/author: anything by Emily Giffin, Stephenie Meyer, JR Ward, Tammara Webber, Victoria Dahl, Jennifer Crusie, Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth, SC Stephens
Favorite color: blue
Collect anything? Do toys count? My kids are five, three, and ten months. My family room often looks like an episode of hoarders.
EXCLUSIVE TEASER for Priscilla Glenn’s next book, Emancipating Andie. The full 3 page sneak peek will be released on January 9th! Check back for the full thing but for now, content yourself with this:
He lunged at her and she screeched in protest, attempting to get out of the car, but he grabbed her hand before she could reach the handle.
Andie sucked in a breath and froze.
It was like a static shock, only not unpleasant, a fuzzy electric tingling that shot up
her arm the second he touched her, settling in her chest.
As soon as she gave up the fight, he reached over and took her other hand, sandwiching them between both of his.
She could feel the warmth of his skin permeating hers as he pressed his palms together, and she glanced up at him. He was watching her, his eyes full of amusement and something else she couldn’t place.
More of this awesome sneak peek to be revealed in just 6 days…
Hello all! First off, if you’re under 18, please avert your eyes and don’t read this post. Things are about to get very real. We’re about to talk about a subject that is near and dear to a lot of you (and me! And Ellen too if we’re being honest): romance!
Shocker! In addition to YA and NA, we also read a whole lot of romance. It used to be taboo and we’d have to hide dog-eared copies of Nora Roberts’ latest under our pillows. Now, not so much. Obviously, this is not the forum to post romance reviews but happily for you, we created a sister site back in September where we do post them. It’s called I Love Romantic Fiction and really, if you haven’t looked at it, go go GO!
Obviously, as 2012 draws to a close, we decided that just as we picked our Top 3 YA/NA Books here, we should do the same for Romance. Because we figured if we like romance and YA/NA, you probably do too and just like us, you need some ideas for some decent books. We’ve chosen 6 books that we loved beyond all else (a teaser for you: Priscilla Glenn and EL James might play a part); some are well known, some you’ll never have heard of, all you’re certain to adore.
Here’s our list and enjoy!
Hey! So you read Back to You by Priscilla Glenn and fell in love with Lauren and Michael, right? Us too! Heck, we loved it so much that we forced the author to befriend us and now we’re BFFs who can joke about things like Friends reruns and funny Nickelback parodies. She also gave us an exclusive Q&A session where she revealed the real life inspiration of Michael in addition to letting us pick her brain for random and fun facts. Now, we’re back with the latest news about this fantastic read. The cover has been revamped and is more glamorous and fabulous than before. Without any more blah-blah-blahing, here it is; for your eyes only: Back to You!
you think??? Love it over here!

It’s this new category I’ve just created called: there aren’t enough stars in the world to fully describe how much I adore this book. It is amazing, y’all! Sweet, well written, full of longing and tension, a bitter love story in the past with a sad ending that turns out beautifully in the present. God, just stop reading my review now and get it. I’ll wait. Here’s the link to help you on your way. Got it? Ready? Good, because you’re going to devour this book in hours and then swoon, and do it all over again the next day.
