who we are 3

We are: readers, book lovers, hopeless romantics. Binge on Books exists to save you the pain of buying bad books. I don’t make it a habit of ripping apart books or authors so you can pretty much guarantee that if I review it, I liked it in some way. I read, review, and discuss it all. For real: this site runs the gamut of diverse reads.

Little Known Judith Facts: I went to NYU where I studied Classics (as in Languages, as in Latin and Greek; please keep your jokes about my job potential to yourself); spent a bit of my childhood outside of Omaha, NE which means I have a certain fondness for cows, corn, and burly men; I’m half-French and a lover of all things Francais (yes, I speak French; and no, I’m probably not going to speak it with you. Unless you ask really nicely); I never wear pants: for serious, NEVER; in addition to being an obsessive reader, I am also an obsessive runner.

In 2015, I was the Publicity/Marketing Manager of Queer Romance Month, a month long literary festival which exists to celebrate queer romantic fiction in all its aspects. Pop over to the QRM site for some amazing think pieces, flash fiction, art, music, and more from some of today’s leading authors.

I currently pen a LGBTQ+ romance column called Rainbow Trends for USA Today’s HEA Blog in addition, I review queer YA for Teen Vogue. I’m also the owner of diverse pub, Open Ink Press, and literary PR agency, A Novel Take PR. Come on over and say “hi” in any (or all) of the places!

ErinCurrent fave authors include: Mary Balogh, Courtney Milan, KJ Charles, CS Pacat, Jordan L. Hawk, Sarina Bowen, Alexis Hall, Sarah MacLean

All time fave authors include: JRR Tolkien, Brandon Sanderson, NK Jemisin, Lois McMaster Bujold, Stephen King

Current fave book: I can’t list a fave, but the last best thing I read was Him, by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

Little Known Erin Facts : I live in New England and I love all the associated outdoorsy stuff. I am a sucker for dogs. Dooooogggs. I have two kids and yes, the dog is probably more spoiled. I work in a field that makes me wary about putting personal info on a public site, but I’m really passionate about my work. I’ve been reading romances since I stole them from under my neighbor’s mom’s bed while she was at work, and I started reading even more in grad school. Nothing makes me happier than recommending a good book to someone who will love it.

Little Known Sara Beth Facts: I share a house with my ex-husband, our two daughters, and five cats. With one car and plenty of angst between us, I’m still convinced nothing will go wrong, and that I might still qualify as pretty dateable. I love to read, write about what I read, and I really, really love to talk about what I’m reading. So, I look forward to many hours of conversation with you all surrounding books, books, and more books.

Little Known Madison Facts: I’m still in college studying writing arts and have been lucky enough to live in Philly, Manhattan, and moving to Florida for a year. I have restless soul syndrome! I live with my wonderful boyfriend and our dog (soon to be 2 dogs). I love to read and I tend to stay awake all night to finish a good book. I’m working on my first novel and hope to finish it in the next year. Other than my love for all things literature I play and coach volleyball, I drink too much caffeine, and I love listening to podcasts in my car.

Little known Alex facts: Alex currently lives in Austin, TX with a beautiful man and their beautiful dog. He has lived up and down the coast of California, mostly near the Mexican border. He is a gender fluid, bi-sexual atheist born at the tail end of GenX where he remains, and can sometimes be seen, holding on for dear life. He used to be a physicist. He used to work for big corporations. Now, he reads more than any normal, healthy adult should. If that’s not bad enough, he has been known to eat ice cream straight from the container. He may be doing it right now.

All time fave authors include: Stephen King, Ursula K. Le Guin, E. M. Forster, Harry Harrison, Toni Morrison.

Current fave book: Coffee Boy by Austin Chant

Little Known Anya Facts:  I live in NYC and I love cats. ALL THE CATS! I started reading romance novels when I was in high school. I was reading Barbara Cartland in Russian (I know ya’ll read her books too, don’t even front). They were super addictive despite being really similar in terms of plot and characters. Ah, good times. When I’m not reading for pleasure, I’m proofreading so it’s ALL THE BOOKS ALL THE TIME for me. I absolutely love introducing people to new books and share the moment of “SQUEEE that book is amazing!” with them.

All time fave authors include: Ginn Hale, David Eddings, Jeff Vandemeer, J R R Tolkien, Melissa Scott, Maureen F McHugh

Current fave book: Harper Fox’s Seven Summer Nights.

Little Known Edwin Facts: As you can probably tell from the all-time fave authors list compared to the current fave authors list, my first love was and is SF & Fantasy, and through that I came to queer romance. This has led me to the point where I’m now grumpy if my SF/F reading doesn’t feature happy queer main characters.  Aside from that, I read and write for a living (though not fiction), so of course my hobby is reading, and now writing about what I read. Why do anything else?

  1. hey does the hot ginger still write for this blog? what an amazing photo. did she go to one of those glamour shot places in the mall?

  2. I have found my people.
And Ellen, you had me at BOOYAH—I’ve been saying for years that it’s making a comeback. Thank you for proving my point. And if that wasn’t the cat’s meow (which—mark my words—is coming back too), FNL…? Well, let’s just say I don’t give a high esteemed mention to Taylor Kitch in my novel Shark Bait for nothing. 😉
